John William Bonnett

“Bill” Bonnett is a retired U.S. Navy Captain who has provided thoughtful guidance and leadership to Thanks! for more than 20 years. His extensive experience in strategic planning and decision-making has been invaluable as the American Rosie Movement continues to grow and evolve.


Bill's family roots in Weston, West Virginia, extend back to the pre-Revolutionary War era, giving him a deep appreciation for the history, character, and future of both West Virginia and the United States. He is committed to promoting a fuller and more accurate understanding of the people and contributions that have shaped America's story.


During his distinguished Navy career, Bill traveled to every continent, gaining a broad global perspective. He has also taught mathematics and other subjects at both the college and high school levels. Most recently, he participated in the West Virginia Department of Education Social Studies Fair, where students showcased bluebird nest boxes as part of a project exploring the enduring legacy of Rosie the Riveters.
